the wulf’s fish advantage

our mission

Grounded by our history, Wulf’s Fish is a modern seafood company with sustainability at its heart — environmental, social, economic, and cultural.

We do business in a way that celebrates the interconnectedness of our producers, our team, our customers, and individual consumers to build a vibrant and diverse foodshed in Massachusetts from water to plate.

Your Seafood Sommelier

Just like a sommelier can steer you to the right bottle of wine, the fishmongers of Wulf’s can help you find the products and cuts that suit your culinary vision and your budget.

We have our finger on the pulse of what’s happening in fisheries and aquaculture to get you the inside track and access to new or unusual products, as well as better versions of your menu staples.

We can build a successful seafood program for organizations of any size. The chefs we serve consider us a knowledgeable resource – and part of their team.

Just like a sommelier can steer you to the right bottle of wine, the fishmongers of Wulf’s can help you find the products and cuts that suit your culinary vision and your budget.

A Century of ExperiencE

Every morning, Sam Wulf would walk the Boston Fish Pier before sunrise, wearing his trademark white shirt and tie. When it came to procuring premium product, the man was ruthless, and local fishermen knew better than to try to sell him anything less than the best. He would return to his shop with the freshest whole fish, and clean and cut it by hand.

Nearly 100 years later, Wulf’s Fish has expanded our reach to deliver the highest quality products around Boston and beyond, but that same obsession for quality still drives everything we do, from where we source our fish to how we cut and deliver it. We continue to buy directly from our fishermen and partners, creating a uniquely transparent customer experience.

Wulf's remains independently owned, and that gives us the freedom to do the right thing — every time. We don't bend quality or the truth to satisfy corporate mandates.

We think Sam would approve.

Premium Service & Communication

Meeting our customers’ needs and exceeding their expectations is central to our mission. In an increasingly chaotic seafood industry, we take pride in communicating with our customers throughout the ordering process.

Every customer gets a dedicated sales manager who gets them the seafood they need while leveraging market intelligence to help them make advantageous buys and find the best substitutions when something they wanted is simply unavailable.

We’re the only seafood wholesaler with a marketing department that prioritizes the customer.

Not Just Fish in a Box — We invest in you

The pressure to stay fresh and relevant is always on. Whether you need talking points for your waitstaff, photos for social media, or want to show off your menu with a special event, we’re here to help.

We celebrate and advocate for our customers in the press and on social media. Quite literally, we’re investing in you and your brand. We’re the only seafood wholesaler with a marketing department that prioritizes the customer.

We have dedicated staff tasked with leveraging the latest in digital marketing to build your reputation for seafood — and we do it all pro-bono.

Your Eyes and Ears on the Dock

Quality-first is our policy. If a species isn’t looking good that day, we’ll tell you why we’re not buying it. If we sell you a #1 tuna, it’s truly a #1 tuna and the best in the market that day. When you buy from Wulf's, you get what you paid for.

Every day, we make real-time, on-the-dock decisions and can make substitutions on your behalf if a product does not meet our quality or freshness standards.

All our fish is cut, scaled and packed by hand — not machines — so it arrives to your kitchen in prime condition.

Sustainability and Next-Level Traceability

Our approach to sustainability is not adherence to a single platform but using our decades of expertise in wild fisheries and aquaculture to help you make choices that answer to your values, from food miles to fair labor practices.

We’ve been building relationships with local harvesters since Sam Wulf first walked the Boston fish pier in 1926 in search of the best. Now we work with producers across the country and the world who are doing things right to ensure the health of our oceans while delivering premium products. Our CleanFish division, which has been in operation since 2004, connects buyers with the cutting edge of aquaculture products and a wealth of sustainability expertise.
